sulumits-retsambew-captain-haddockEverytime I read or mentioned the words Sulumits Retsambew, another words kept on popping up on my head: Ten Thousand Thundering Sulumits Retsambew .. ooooopss .. I meant: Ten Thousand Thundering Typhoons.. lolz. Followed by other words like: Billions of Bilious Blue Blistering Barnacles, Slubberdegullions, Ectoplasmic Byproduct, Pestilential Pachyderm … and I could go on and on. And, ….voila.. Captain Haddock figure came to my mind.

Those of you who love to read The Adventures of Tintin by Belgian comics writer and artist Georges Remi — better known by his pen name Hergé — will surely be familiar with both the cursing words and the Captain Haddock character. Captain Haddock (see picture)  was a hard faced, short tempered, often badmouthed, hard drinker, whiskey lovers yet good hearted, loyal and brave sailor who by the end of the adventures had become a loyal companion for Tintin, — although from time to time still given to uttering the occasional colourful ‘expletive’ vocabulary. If you look it up on your dictionary, you might — or might not — find the meaning of those words. Just like the words Sulumits Retsambew.. lolz.

And for those of you who have no idea of who is Tintin, he is the hero of Herge’s comic strips “the Adventure of Tintin”. In Wikipedia words:

  • “Tintin is a young Belgian reporter who becomes involved in dangerous cases in which he takes heroic action to save the day. Almost every adventure features Tintin hard at work in his investigative journalism, but he is seldom seen actually turning in a story without first getting caught up in some misadventure. He is a young man of more or less neutral attitudes and is less colourful than the supporting cast. In this respect, he represents the everyman.”
In his adventure, Tintin was accompanied by his also famous four-legged assistant “Snowy”, a seafaring Captain Haddock who’s notorious with his swearing vocabulary, and other interesting character as well like Professor Calculus, twin detectives Thomson and Thompson, the opera singer Bianca Castafiore, Nestor the buttler etc…etc…

Well, the rest you’ve got to find out for yourself, mon ami! I’m not intended to tell the stories here ha3x. But to give you a hint, here are some of Tintin’s adventure stories: Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, Cigars of the Pharaoh, King Ottokar’s Sceptre , Prisoners of the Sun, The Castafiore Emerald, Tintin and the Picaros… and many others. And who knows if only Herge were still alive, he will be interested in writing a story about “Tintin and The Legend of King Sulumits Retsambew”. And Captain Haddock can’t help himself for swearing: Ten Thousand Blistering Sulumits Retsambew!!… lolz
